Mac Quake 3 and Ethernet

I am trying to play Quake 3, between 2 Imacs using Ethernet. We have an ethernet hub and can connect and file share all day. We play many other network games this way. When choosing Multiplayer and create server, the other computer never shows an available game. Both settings are for LAN and Local. Any advice. I am using the latest version of both operating system and Q3. Is there a way to use TCP/IP over ethernet?

If i recall correctly Quake III doesn't use Appletalk. It uses TCP/IP. I could be wrong on that one. Are you using the latest Q3 updates?...check www.versiontracker.com

Ahh thats a bit more specific...Yes there is.

After a little digging i found http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/games/quakelan/ which explains the setup for Quake Classic but the instructions are basically the same. Especially the TCP/IP setup.
