Well coopa, seems like you want the points. (already found most of those) I am looking for REAL water, metal, wood and grass planes. I have found lots of the above but they don't look very real.

Nope...
Not that desparate for the points...
Just use bryce myself and was interested that there might be some decent textures out there...  These are just the sites I came across.

I have a cd full of bitmap textures, (i.e. not in Bryce MAT format) which are really good....

> I am looking for REAL water,
Unfortunately there are no water ones on the cd...  Do you not like "deep sea" and "nacissist pool" ?
Think they can look pretty realistic in the right lighting conditions.

> metal,
Have some pretty good metal textures
Especially that corrugated metal walkway stuff they use in factories.
Also found a good way to produce rusty metal using photoshop.

> wood
Have some of those.  No good bark textures though...

> and grass planes.
This is what I do not have... Have been looking for these for my own work.

If you want me to convert some of these bitmaps to bryce textures, just let me know.

Most of the presets suck in 3, 4 has some good ones...
For metal I want some textures that look like smooth metal, I know 4 has good ones...
Maybe I should upgrade (if they still sell it)

For wood I am trying to find real wood, the preset 2 look REAL bad.

I downloaded several and they are transparent ones that look very fake and I don't know what I would ever use them for.

Since you use 3, do you know how to make 1 object not anti-alis but the rest of the scene do it? I am trying to make a borg cube but after the alis pass it looks like little box's with green dots around it.

I'm pretty sure that's not possible.

Okay I have an answer !

try this...

1) Render the whole image with no anti aliasing (uncheck the anti-aliasing button in document setup)  Call the file "Aliased.bmp"

2) Now render the image again... this time WITH anti aliasing... save this as "AntiAliased.bmp"

3) now select the cube and change it's texture to the preset called "full black".

4) delete the rest of the objects in the scene (including ground if you have any) and set the sky and fog to a preset called simple white background.

5) render this (black and white image) to a file called "mask.bmp"

6) Now use you favourite image editting application and load the 3 images in.  (i used photoshop BTW)

7) using the mask.bmp as a selection mask, select the cube from "aliased.bmp"... copy the not-aliased cube out

8) Switch to "AntiAliased.bmp" and paste the borg cube over the antialiased version.

I can elaborate more if you need me too... i'm not sure if you even have photoshop....
You can do this in other image applications... let me know what you have and how experienced you are, and i'll change the instructions accordingly.

Ok, I love the textures and I will give the points but if you want some more I will ask one last question:

Can you find a plugin for 3 that will allow importing and exporting of .jpg files?
I have looked for any plugins but I have never found any. (for bryce)

I found a way to not anti-alis one object on a scene!

Check it out here:

No and it frustrates the hell out of me !

I've just been trawling for about 30 minutes but I couldn't find any.

It seems that this is the case with all metacreations products, jpegs just aren't supported.

The easiest way is to convert them to bmp's and the quickest way to do that is to open the image in Internet Explorer, right click on the image and select save as...
You can then choose (from the drop down menu at the bottom) to save as a BMP.

I know Bryce 4 will do jpg files no problem but I also heard that they stopped selling it???
The exporting doesn't bother me it is the importing, you try and import a texture or a picutre and you have to make it a bmp first. Plus it wastes hard drive space.
