Goodday.

I have this question regarding anti aliasing in photoshop, which comes into 2 parts.

1st: when i enter text, put it down with the smooth or crisp option and use the magic wand to select it and start to let loose some plugins on it the result is a none aliased piece of crap. (even when i play around with the aliased/not aliased feature of the magic wand).......what am i doing wrong?

2 when i apply the "finger" on the blockey edges of a pic..i'ts soft allright...but it's ugly...is there a way to anti alias the way text is typed in?...that would be great...

thanx in advance.

DONT use the magic wand tool. Instead of using the magic wand tool, command-click on the layer that contains the text. That will make a complete selection of the text instead of just the parts you happened to click on with the magic wand tool.

Im not sure i understand the second part of your Q...I assume you mean the smudge tool by "the finger" (visual image of you flipping photoshop the bird). Anyway i assume youre using the smudge tool to RE-antialias the edges of your text which should be solved by the above solution. Also instead of using the smudge tool use the gaussian blur filter. Select the outer edges of whatever object you want to smudge (dont select the middle just the outside edges with some overlap so the edge of the object is in the middle of your selection) and then gaussian blur.
