missing folders

I seem to have lost all the contents of my folders and all my newly created folders containing all mail received and sent. I've been tryingto use the import and export facility but it doesn't seem to work. The relevant dbx files appear to be still there but outlook express 5 won't recognise them.
I'll be grateful for any suggestions?

Go into OE5 and select Tools->Options->Maintenance Tab->Store Folder button. Make sure that it's pointing to the location of your dbx files.

Hope that fixes it for you....

Thanks for your reply Scroghan. Unfortunately all my messages have vanished. I must have "clunked" everything recently without realising it and there seems no way to retrieve them. What I thought were the old dbx's were in fact the new. The old ones are gone. This is the second time this has happened to me. At least the address book remained intact. Your suggestion was handy though and helped to confirm disppearance of old dbx's. If you have any other suggestions or advice on how to prevent a recurrence, please reply.
