Larry,

If this is Windows 98se and the ADM K6 is running at 350mHz or higher there may be a timing issue with the USB host controller. If that is the case let me know and I'll forward you a web address with more specific information

Larry try this first

Uninstall the scanner and all of it's software then reboot the system. Once in windows hit ctrl, alt, delete and end task everything except for explorer and systray then reinstall the scanner this should fix the problem when you initially installed your anti virus or other programs were actiev which interferred with the install.

if this did not work then do this

Go to start run
type msinfo32 hit enter then go to tools and select system file checker
then select to extract one file from installation disk for the name of the file put MFC42.DLL then hit next... put in your win98 cd-rom then where it says extract from browse to your cd-rom drive i.e. D:\win98    (where d is the letter of your cd-rom drive) then where it says to extract to put in
c:\windows\system hit next it will ask if you want to make a backup say yes then finish it out it should report that it extracted the file successfully then hit close out of the SFC and reboot the system.
