DVD Player For Macintosh

My System:
G3-350 B&W
192MB RAM
DVD-RAM
ATI RAGE 128 /w DVD Decoder
OS9, completely updated as of 3/2/00

OK, here is the situation.  My DVD player has been working fine for a long time, but suddenly one day when I opened it up it said "Cannot find the correct hardware.  Reinstall Apple DVD player -204".  So I did.  That didn't work.  Then I reinstalled it again, zapped PRAM, and trashed prefs.  That did not work.  Then completely reinstalled system, zapped PRAM, trashed prefs, but to no avail.  The Apple TILs give info on this problem, but I have followed all their recommendations and can't seem to find and answer.  This problem happened immediately after I option-clicked on a DVD and said "load as ISO9660", but I don't think that makes a difference.  I can read DVDs, CDs, but the application Apple DVD player does not work.  Sorry for the long post, but can anyone help?

As i recall the Rage 128 came with a DVD decoder addon card that snapped onto the Rage 128. It could be that its been bumped and come loose resulting in "incorrect hardware". Open up your case, find the rage 128 video card and look for anything attached to it. Wiggle it, to see if its loose.

The answer above is most likely a solution to the problem. You may want to contact apple directly if you dont feel like fiddling with the insides of your computer yourself.
