Try these solutions

1. Uninstall the scanner and all of it's software then (if you have norton anti virus go into it and disable the auto protect mode) then reboot once you are back in windows hit ctrl, alt, delete and end task everything except for explorer and systray then reinstall the scannerand all of the software for it again.

if that did not work try this

ISSUE: Adobe (R) cannot find the templates, although the path is correct.

SOLUTION: Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Re-start the process by clicking tab 1 Layout. Choose a layout then click tab 2 Style and click Choose Style.
When asked to insert the HP_Scanning, insert the CD but do not click OK.
Click Find File and change the drive to D:\ (where D is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.)
Double-click Pdart.
Double-click Template.
Double-click Format Using Card, Calendar, etc.
Adobe will find the templates. This should only have to be completed once.

if that is not it either insert the cd that came with your scanner you may have done a minimum install and it requires the cd to run parts of the program.
