A resource file allows you to collect all of the version-specific text and bitmaps for an application in one place. This can include icons, screen text, and other material that may change between localized versions or between revisions or specific configurations.

Resources are the things that Nancy listed. Take for example Icons to use for the mouse. You have to draw a icon you want to use. Now you have to start the resource editor (I hope you'll have one installed) and add the icon to the resources for your project and give it a good name.

Now if you want to switch between cursors for the mouse all you have to code is for example:

picPage.MouseIcon = LoadResPicture("curUp", vbResCursor)

The advantage is that the icons etc are included into your exeutable. so you don't have to distribute all kinds of seperate files you want to use within your apllication (with the chnage that the user distroys them). Its a clean way of adding resources to your project.

Hope this will anwes the question.
