How do create AVI file with 8bit (256 color only) depth in 3D Studio Max?

there's no exact point for defining the 8bit (256 color) in AVI compressing tools in 3D MAX... but you can adjust the movie codec (i use indeo -- the best so far) and adjust the compression quality.

I don't need any compression. Only 8bit none compression avi file.

It is not possible to do this in max,
but in after fx, it is no problem:
render uncompressed in max,
and render uncopmressed, with 256 colors
selected in afterfx,
