unknown indentifier

I'm getting the error message "unknown identifier" on this line: if gender = 'M'

Unknown Identifier means it is not declared.  If it is declared you have it in a procedure that cant reach declared variable.  Check where gender is declared

somwhere in your code you need

var
  gender : char;

or

  gender : string;
