Printing under Linux to a Novell printer
Hi,

We have a Novell (3.2) network and printers attached to that network. I have a (Corel) Linux machine an want to print to the printer. My  computer is also connected to the network but I cannot login to novell because I cannot find a novell client for Linux. What can I do?

Novell services are provided by the ncpfs, which probably wasn't installed by default. It should be on your OS CD and if you install it you'll have, amoung other things, nprint.

The home of the ncpcfs software isftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/ncpfs/. There's good information in the IPX howto (http://howto.tucows.com/ptHOWTO/IPX-HOWTO) on Novell services and Linux. And there's specific information on how to set up printing to a Novell server in http://howto.tucows.com/ptHOWTO/Printing-HOWTO

Don't use slashes in the nprint line.

NCPFS also allows for login to the novell server as a user.

YOu will also likely need to set p ghostsript filters depending on your printer type.

If you havenot noticed yet printing is Linux's biggest weakness.
