Those animated mailboxes are actually nothing more than special pictures saved in the .GIF file format. Animated GIfs are created by saving several frames as a single file.

You can add them to your webpage in the same way that you would add a regular image. In your HTML code, you would include a line like the following:
<img src="mailbox.gif">
where "mailbox.gif" is the name of the animated image you want to display.  The img tag has other options, such as height and width, but they are not necessary for getting the image to display.

If you want to find a ton of animated GIFs on the web, search Yahoo for "animated GIFs" and you can browse all of the collections out there.  A word of advice, though - use the animations sparingly!  Too much activity on your website can become distracting or worse, annoying. =)

I find this web very useful for animated gifs:  http://www.animationzone.com/

You can copy (SAVE PICTURE AS) freely to your hard drive.  They post clear instructions on how to copy gifs for your use.

Indeed, they have a special category containing animated email images.
