Can anyone give me some helpfull links to information regarding to MPEG compression and JPEG compression, What I need is information about the way it works and the compression rates.

Here are some links.  MPEG first:

- http://www.crs4.it/HTML/LUIGI/MPEG/mpegfaq.html - older, but good background info.

- http://www.pcwebopaedia.com/TERM/M/MPEG.html - basic and to the point

- http://www.research.att.com/~gjm/imusic/mpeg.html - more for audio, very good.

.... and JPEG:
