Sending email

I can receive my mail on my POP3 account thru Outlook Express but I can't send it out.  I have checked with the service provider and all my settings are set as they recommend.  What settings does Alta Vista provide?  Or does Alta Vista block these?

altavista only have an incomming pop3 server, you need and outgoing server, try www.hotmail.com or www.mail.yahoo.com, both have outgoing servers.

Thank you for responding.  But
I do have Yahoo mail.  That is the problem.  I can receive the mail thru my POP3 account but not send any out through Outlook Express.  I contacted Yahoo and followed all their instructions.  They said my ISP may be blocking outgoing mail.  And since I'm using Alta Vista Free Access as my ISP I don't know what to do.  Can you help further?

Just Recieve mail first, then send it they require this so they can verify your a user and not some intruder.

My mail box still isn't working.  Yahoo has suggested to me that Alta Vista may be blocking connections to external mail servers.  Help!

Although AltaVista is your ISP, you can get mail from www.yahoo.com or www.usa.net or www.mail.com.  
Sure, you HAVE an Altavista mail account.. but you also have
another one somewhere else and that is what you use.  

You also could find a public SMTP server.  They really aren't that hard to find.  I'd post a few but then they'd be spammed into oblivion.

So the answer is simple:  Get an email account on www.mail.com and use that.
