scanjet 5p scsi

I have a scanjet 5p scanner and have purchased a new hp pavilion 9686c computer. I went to install the scsi se card from my other system for the scanner and found that it is not compatiable. What card do I need to make my scanner work with this system?   I have also downloaded the sj272en.exe upgrade driver from hp to fix the win98 conflict, will this work?

There is a decent SCSI card offer at www.advansys.com.  Also, there are many fine SCSI adapters available at a local retailer.  Almost any, but not all, Adaptec card will work.

SJ272en will work fine with this scanner is win98.

This is not an answer to the question, this is a referral.
The scsi card that came with the 5p is a symbios logic sym53c416 Plug and Play card. It is perfectly compatable with Windows 98. The only two reasons that this scsi card would not be compatable, are that the scsi card is bad (you will need to buy a replacement from any local computer retailer, or from an online store) and/or your computer does not have any/any free ISA slots (in which case you will need a pci or pcmcia scsi card).

As for the software, you will need to download DeskScan II v 2.9. it can be downloaded for free from:

Good luck!
