Should, the IIp is a early printer and did not have a bunch of fancy stuff like bi-di built into it.  Are you having problems, or just asking if it will work?

johlari... I am not trying to challenge your vast knowledge but

To my knowledge the HP IIP laser has a status monitor program that is listed in the win.ini and starts up upon bootup. This status monitor could interfer with the scanner

it is hard to tell... really there is no definitive answer if a scanner and printer will play nice together one of the ways to try to get them to work is by doing what I listed below... In my opinion you are better off if you can putting them on seperate parallel ports

this setting below will help keep from the printer interfering with the scanner
go to start settings printers right click on the printer select properties go to the details tab and then click on spool settings then select to disable bi-directional support and to print directly to the printer the format should be RAW
