"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Does the DOS app allow for sending Escape sequences? Many do (Lotus 123, Wordperfect, etc) and if so all you need to put in is the correct code. Either see the printer manual or HP's web site.
If the app doesn't have this facility you might be able to do it by creating a small text file containing just the Escape sequence and copy that to the LPT port the printer is connected to before you print. As I said this may not work!
Best alternative is to get a printer with more functionality, an old LJII or LJIII would be pretty cheap and you can set lines per page via the front panel.
