I need an E-commerce - Shopping Cart.

I will award MANY MORE points to whomever can help me write this in PERL, utilizing a flat TEXT file (.txt) - (as opposed to a SQL, ACCESS, etc. type of database) to hold the information, and update the information.

I need to have a somewhat simple and generic shopping cart designed in PERL that will work with a flat text file (as opposed to a SQL, etc. - database).  Can someone help me write this and put it together?  (It needs to be generic in the respect that as I need to apply and use the script for various client websites, it would be usable in various situations with minimal changes.)  And, it needs to be secure.

Basically, it needs to function as most all other shopping carts.  A client will have any number of products for sale, the user would come to the site, find one (or more) item(s) that they want to order ONLINE, and then add the item(s) to their shopping cart.  Then, at the end, it would tell them what is in their shopping cart, allow the user to edit  the items in the cart, calculate and add in the shipping and tax, give the user an access number for them to use so they can come back later to check on the status of their order (which would tell them if it was shipped and when), allow a user to enter their credit card information (securely) and forward the information to either a credit card company (for authorization and processing) or to the client (for manual processing) - depending upon the client,  etc., etc., etc.   All the normal stuff.

If for any reason this can not be done in PERL (which I doubt), please let me know.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks,
Gary

Manesh,

Thanks.

Do you expect the 100 points for the link, or what?  Please tell me how many points would be fair for the link you gave me to this site.

Your call.

Thanks again,
Gary

PS:  You don't want to write one from scratch for me ... with comments??? :-)

frankly, i dont think i deserve any points, cause i am not the one who has written the code.

currently i am writing your "Blue Mountain" piece so i dont think i could help you with writing the shopping cart from scratch :(. Sorry!!

however, if you get some good code that works, i could walk you thru it line-by-line with comments.

Ok.

That sounds good.  I am sure that even when I get the code from the site you referred me to, I'll have questions.

We'll tackle that later.

But here are at least a few points for the tip to the site.

THANKS!!!
Gary
