scanjet 5p scsi card

I have recently bought a computer (win98)which supports USB. I used my HP scanjet 5p on my older computer(win95) using the SCSI card that came with it. Is there a cable available that would connect it to my computers USB port or do I still need to use the card, only I'm having  problems installing it.

your scanner is only designed to work with scsi - download the sware as advised by another user but before install make sure you remove the old scanning sware and also remove the listing for the scsi card in device manager - do not have the scanner connected during install as you will have problems with the installation - if still having problems call hp tech support - if in the uk you should dial
0207 512 5202
otherwise check hp.com for incountry support numbers

The 5P scanner is SCSI and not convertible.  What problems are you having with the installation of the card?

AT this stage SCSI is fastre than USB so there is no reason to want to use USB at this stage. So with that in mind you might want to d/load s/ware for win98 from http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/sj5ppc_swen.html
You have a choice of Deskscan or p/scan.
Deskscan (sj166en.exe) is ugly and simple but does the trick. P/scan (sj272en.exe) is a lot more user friendly. Both will work under win98 with your SCSI card sj5p
