Thanks so much for the good advice!  Although the "dummy light" indicated that BOTH cartridges were full, it was lying!  When I tried adding a fresh black cartridge, my printer went back to producing beautiful copy.

Changed out the empty color cartridge in my Epson Stylus 440 ink jet and installed a nice new, full one.<br />

Now the printer prints in what almost looks like &quot;negative&quot; quality, except that lots of color is used. &nbsp;It makes for some psychedellic print jobs, including the black and white ones.<br />

How do I kick this thing in the butt and get it back to printing things nicely like it used too?
