Some interesting thoughts on AI.

I read the link at http://www.hip.atr.co.jp/~degaris/Artilect-phil.html  and, it is the most foolish document in a long time. First, he claims that soon we will be albe to scan in a brain to the computer. Lets for a minute say this was true. How do we run the brain? Does anyone out there have a body emulator so you can run your brain? How will the brain talk with the computer? A brain knows how to use eys and ears etc but How does it talk to a cpu?

I think that if biologists allows us to live so far then: Yes that possibility is egsisting somewhere in the destruction scenarios stack.

Interesting opinion, Redneck.  I know the people programming AI, and that's why _I'm_ scared.  (Not pathologcially terrified, but unnerved.)

To me, AI means that the computer possesses a consciousness of sorts, and can make it's OWN decisions about human beings and their value.

The only way to save us is to require all robots and AIs to join the Green Party.  This is the only political party that (a) cares about beings or species that are stupider than its own members (b) won't destroy natural space where biological life needs to live and (c) is used to playing lawyer for these lesser beings, even if they bite them on the leg.  It's like a whole party of babysitters or pro bono lawyers, really.  If the robots join the Greens there is no problem:  http://hubley.com/green/robots.htm - however if they are Democrats then they will tax humans unbearably to pay for space where stray robot dogs to roam - if they are Republicans then they will just shoot humans for target practice.
