My Scanjet 5100C is less than a year old an has been used moderately. When scanning a vertical 1 1/2 inch yellow band is super-imposed on the picture being scanned. What is the problem and mainly what is the solution.
Thanks.

If the yellow band is on all scans it is most likely the CCD in the scanner that is failing.  To test, try scanning a blank, white piece of paper.  If the yellow streak is there, the scanner needs service.  Call HP and they'll work through the service options with you.

That's what I was afraid of...
Taking it in for service is usually a nightmare and satisfactory results are never guaranteed! Plus you're out of your equipment for who knows how long...

Thanks for the bad news.  The scanner always had this yellow streak.  Probably just pay to chuck it. So much for HP scanners.
