Dear Sir/Madam:
I´d like to get information about the way to know the graphic card I´ve got in my Performa 6400/180, operating system MacOS 8.5 without openning it.
I already know it´s an ATI graphic card, but I need to know which one to install the proper drivers.
Thanks in advance, Jose Manuel Pumarega

Hi, Pumarega.

The most practical way involves Apple System Profiler 2.1 or later, a little utility included in the Apple menu in Mac OS 8.5 and later.

This program provides a broad spectrum of information on all devices and software running on your Mac. Under the Devices & Volumes tab, you should see some basic information on the graphic card--however, chances are it's going to be a bit cryptic.

I believe that ATI Technologies has a universal installer for any ATI graphic card, so the info from ASP may be moot. Drop by their web site at http://www.atitech.com/ for more information.

Good luck.
