Backup your explorer.exe and open the original with a HEX-editor. Search for "53 00 74 00 61 00 72 00 74" HEX. Maybe you've already guessed this is the word "Start" with a binary zero between every char. It's five or six times in this file, and you have to change everyone. It must be 5 chars! If you only need four or less, don't delete anything, but replace with blanks!
And still another possibiliity:
Go to  www.shellcity.com then go to its alphabetic index.  Go to Eppiedesktop, go to the site, and download the program that will allow you to change START and the start button to something else.  You can use a bitmap from among those on the site, or you can design your own.  I especially like the colorful button with the word GO on it, but you can pick or create your own.
where's the alphabetical index???
you got me interested but I can't find it.
My apologies.  That should have been:
www.shellcity.net    When you get there scroll down a shortway, click on E, and you are on your way.

I'm not going to take the time to check but I'm assuming you are new here?

Yes, why?
Experts here don't post answers to questions unless they are absolutely sure that the advice will answer the question or solve the problem.  Posting an answer locks the question and further delays the questioners solution.  In this case, though your info may be valid, it is no more the "correct answer" than any of the other comments.  Since your comments can be accepted as answers it benefits the questioner to leave his/her question unlocked by only posting comments unless you are absolutely sure you can resolve the issue in your one statement.  If your comment resolves the issue, then the questioner can accept that comment, awarding you the points.  Not trying to be rude, just letting you know what works best.  You should change you answer to a comment in order to unlock the question, allowing others to possibly offer more input.
