Bummer!

You haven't quite given us enough information for one of us to help you successfully.  Are you inside of Photoshop, when you can't see the "previews", or are you in My Computer or Explorer when you can't see the previews.  If it's the latter case, you've just lost your file associations between the .jpg and .gif files and the programs like Photoshop or Photo Editor that read and open such files.  If this is the case, reply here and I'll tell you how to fix that: it's really simple.

If you can't see the Previews when you're inside of Photoshop, this is a more complex matter. Reply here and I'll take a shot at helping you.

If you do a re-install of Photoshop it should set itself as the default previewer, it always has on my system.

For the previews it is very simple, just click view then as web page.
You should then be able to see the previews in explorer again.

Thanks for you help but you did not quite get my question.  I am doing show as web! I have win98 and in the folders anyfolder for example mydocuments i can not preview my pics!  I know i have to go to the start menu then do settings and folder options.  And in folder options i go to file types and go check out gif and jpeg for example.  Then when i click on the sort of picture file i go to edit and double click on the actions or add some.  I have 3 actions: open, print & printto but to make these actions work i have to have the path of the microsoft photo editor to genarate all these actions.  Im saying Microsoft Photoeditor because that how it was before when it worked & i am sure there is more solutions but im gonna start with this one.

Thanks for trying.

Why don't you set it to open Photoeditor?
