Alphabetize a long link list

How would it be possible to alphabetize a long link list without messing up the code? i.e. by importing to msword, sorting then saving.
This seems like a simple task, but Homesite, etc. and other programs that ive searched can't do that.
Got any ideas?
thanks

your best bet is to import the page into excel....sort the list there...then export it

Please, I asked how to alphabetize a html link list without adulterating (introducing ms tags, new formating, etc.) You suggested I import to excel. Excel does the same thing as MS Word. It makes a 100k HTML file a 200k HTML file it introduces so much.
Thanks anyway..
Seems like such a simple thing to do...
I guess not simple enough for me to figure it out..

Would it be possible to use technology other then html? Here's what I would do (you will have to put in a lot of work initially, but after that, generating the code will be a piece of cake)

Put your links into an access database and use a basic asp page to query the db and sort them. At this point, you can do a view source and get the ordered list, paste it into a new document, and your set.

This will allow you to upate the list relatively easily too..

Hi linkcat,

try the script created by Christopher Bradford - you can use it from within HS and it should be able to do what you want. See http://scripts.hsguide.com/scripts.php3 for details (it's sortlinks.js - if you sort by date on that page it should be near the top).

Thanks,
This is the perfect solutions. I just happened to be in a discussion with the author on the Allaire Homesite Forum, when he introduced this script, works perfectly.
It's weird though that he doesn't descrble exactly what it does on scripts.hsguide.com, which is:
It sorts the link text alphabetically by line, if you have one link per line obviously.

Hi again,

I changed the description on the site (blatantly ripping your last sentence). Note that *I* create the descriptions - the script author hardly ever is involved except in cases where I have a readme file to build on or a lengthy post on the HS forum. As I said, it's adjusted now.
