I'm trying to overide the mail format of a message to send as plain text instead of rich text - I can globally change the format but I cant change it on a per message basis. I am using  a signiture file but i have a rich text version and a plain text version - using the plain text version changes the messae format to rich text - is there any way of stopping this?

What version of Outlook? Outlook 2000 supports changing on the fly via the Format menu. Adding a signature shouldn't make a difference; Outlook should use the right sig for the current format.

I cannot reproduce your problem in Outlook 98 of inserting a signature turning it into a rich-text message. Can you provide exact steps to reproduce?

Unfortunately, Outlook 98 does not give you the ability to change to plain text from an RTF message.
