Browsers with Flash

Does Macromedia Flash come with Netscape Communicator and Internet Explorer?  If so, in which version did it start being packaged with each of these?

When a user is loading an html page, is it possible to determine if the user has flash installed? via Javascript?  If the answer to the first question is "yes", then I suppose one could get the version of the browser and determine if Flash is installed that way, but i guess it is possible that it could have been installed and then uninstalled, so that may not give a definitive answer.

Hi jdaues,

I don't know if Flash is already pluged-in in Explorer 5.0, but in Explorer 4.0 en Navigator 4.0 its not. But when you publush a movie in Flash, Flash make a tag in your published HTML-page that can see if the Flash-plugin is already installed, if not, it goes to the macromedia-site and download and install the plugin (after confirmation, of course).
Otherwise, i'm thinking that about 70% of the internet-surfers have the Flash-plugin alredy installed.
Good luck, and when you have furter questions, feel free to ask.

Bye,

Roy
