Multiple Users - Seperate Accounts

I have 2 Lotus Notes users that use the same computer.  How do I setup Notes so that each can have their bookmarks, databases, phonebooks, ect... seperate from the other user?

I have tried installing Notes twice with separate icons to point to the two separate folders but, Notes will only access one set of data files.
Next I tried setting the user Prefs and Location Prefs for each account to no avail.
Setting up two different Locations yeilded similar results.  Only one persons mailbox, calendar, phonebook, ect... was accessable with each profile.

It seems that whatever settings I set up for one become the default for the other as well.

Is it possible to have two Notes users on the same computer, and keep their personal data files separate at the same time?  If so, how???

Staz,

A couple of ways you can tackle this.

You can install a shared Notes Client (run from the Server) with the data directory pointing to the persons home directory (i.e. directory=h:\lotus\notes\data). so that when they login in and open the Notes Client it will have their personal Workspace.

OR

You can install the Notes Client locally, rename the current data directory from "Data" to the person shortname (BSMITH), then copy it to another subdirectory (BJONES) so that you have two seperate data directories under the program directory (LOTUS\NOTES).  Now move the NOTES.INI from the program directory to one of your new data directories (BSMITH) and then copy it to the other data directory (BJONES).  Make sure that this is the only place these NOTES.INI files reside.  Now make a shortcut on the desktop for each person ("BSmith's Notes" and "BJones' Notes") and set the "Target" field to the program directory (i.e. C:\Lotus\Notes\notes.exe) and the "Start in" directory to the persons data directory (i.e. C:\Lotus\Notes\BSMITH) or where their NOTES.INI file resides.  Double click on the icon and it will use their personal data directory .... we hope ;^ )

Since we don't do network installs, I tried your idea with the INI files.  It is such a simple solutions that I was kicking myself after reading your suggestion.  By all apearances this solution is going to work out just fine.  My co-workers and I thank you StHarris!

The only thing I have to add is that the INI files must also be edited so that paths are changed.  Thanks

Staz,

Actually if you follow my directions and do not start the Notes Client until the very end (of creating the seperate data directories and copying the data  and NOTES.INI files) the NOTES.INI files will build themselves correctly without you needing to change a thing.  If the shortcut only references a specific NOTES.INI (as I pointed out in the "Target & "Start in" fields) it will only modify that NOTES.INI file.
