can not open outlook express

for the last day or so, I have not been able to open outlook express. when I click on the iconthe mouse shows that it is doing something but then it stops and nothing opens. I have tried every way i can to open it but it will not. Please help.

It sounds like you have a little bit of corruption in the registry or one of the dbx files are corrupt. (Assuming you are using OE5.)

Two options exists -
1] If you are using Windows 98 you can restore from a previous registry backup.  By default Win 98 keeps the last 5 days. (See online help for this.)

2] Move each .DBX file out of the registry one by one until OE5 starts up.  This will help you determine which file is corrupt. (OE5 will create a new dbx file.)


There is one more method, but it is only used in extreme situations.  (It involves editing the registry directly.)

wwbeck:  I forgot about how much detail I put into that question for Katie4, but that seems to be the method that always fixes 95 or NT4 machines. (Win98 registry restore process avoids the registry edit process.)
