Yes, you certainly can.

Obviously you know nothing about sockets programming at this point.  How about your start at your local bookstore or library and get a basic network programming text?

Dear soumyas,

i think you can go through the book -> Networking , by tenenbaum.
Some sort of knowledge in networking will help you to know some concepts of sockets,
i think you know C, so first understand the concepts of Sockets , the concepts will certainly lead you to write the C code for it yourself.
