How to do message notification in a class?

I have this DLL file loaded that sends a windows message to a handle upon a byte received on the COM port.

I wan't to create a handle for a non visual class in my project and then write a "winproc" for it so that it can receive messages from this DLL... can this be done and how?

(I don't want the use the normal WinProc in my project to trap these messages.)

Look at the VCL sources of TTimer, there you can find how Borland solved this problem.

I don't know what you mean. I gave you a good answer. Have you looked into the VCL sources? If you was not satisfied with my comment, why did you not say anything??
