You'll have to put the drop down menu inside a <div>, give it name and in your mouseover function do

document.all['divname'].style.visibility = 'visible'

and for mouseout

document.all['divname'].style.visibility = 'hidden'

where 'divname' is the name (id) given to the <div>

you'll have to position the div properly you may need to read up on your style sheets.

can you explain a little better.  I don't know anything about <div> and I don't know how to add a mouseover function to a hotspot item.  Thanks.

ok, i'd say ur in over ur head if ur first run in with style sheets is gong to be making a pop-up menu

<div style="visibility: hidden" name="mydiv">
text and stuff
</div>

a div is like a layer. it can be part of the document layout or it can be positioned to move anywhere it wants over the document.

if u had a link
<a href="#" onMouseover="showmenu()">mouse me</a>

some javascript
<script>
<!--
function showmenu()
{
 document.all['mydiv'].style.visibility = 'visible';

}
//-->
</script>

then whenever the mouse moves over the link the menu would appear. just make a new func called hide menu and change what u set the visibility to 'hidden' to turn the div off again.

to position it anywhere
<div style="position: absolute;top: 50px;left: 50px">

GO TO!!!! www.w3.org or u won't understand whats going on

is this enough for u. i can't tell u any more without writing the whole thing for u. PLUS! you only gave me B for my answer.

Sorry about the "B" - I'll change it to an "A" - Seems like a lot for just a simple menu.  Do you know of any software that will create this for me?  I see a lot for java scripting, but not for use on a hotspot.  Thanks again for all your help and your quick response

dreamweaver 3 has a lot of behaviours etc. that can make this easier. but you won't be able to read the code that it outputs so you wont' be able to customise it much. however it probably will still suit your needs.

download the trial from macromedia.com

then get the crack from
