What is the latest version of gdb and gcc for solaris operating
systems?

We have gdb version 4.16 and it has some limitations.
For eg. Iam not able to debug shared library intiitializers.
It gives the message:
warning: Unable to find dynamic linker breakpoint function.
warning: GDB will be unable to debug shared library initializers
warning: and track explicitly loaded dynamic code.

The version of gcc which we have is 2.8.1.

Where can I down load the latest versions from?

Advance thanks for the help.

You should be able to download the latest gdb and gcc from:

http://www.sunfreeware.com

They are in Solaris package format, so all you do is pkgadd -d <pkgname> as root and it will install all of the necessary files for you. They have them for Sparc or X86 2.5-Solaris8 versions.

The latest version of GDB is 4.18 and the latest version of gcc is 2.95.2

Or you could download them from:

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gcc
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gdb

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot. But my problem does not go away.
The latest version  of gdb core dumps and the version which I
have been using does not allow me to debug initialization routines
of shared objects.
Do you have any idea? Iam posting another question. Please update it
if you have any ideas.
