c-media game port problems...

I have a c-media sound card, but when I select to install the legacy gameport controller (or something like that), I cannot get it to work.  It installs perfectly fine, no errors or anything, but after it is installed, I cannot get my joystick to work.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated...

Check in Device manager and see if it is there first.
Check on Control panel/games/ and see if it is recognized.  If not then select on Add and use your drivers you have on your floppy or CD and add from there.
Then do a force ESCD in BIos

What kind of joystick are you using? There is an issue with Microsoft joysticks and controllers and Cmedia. See this link to see if it applies:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ARTICLES/Q193/3/43.asp I had this kind of problem and was only able to solve it by using the usb adapter cable that came with a Sidewinder joystick. I suppose a regular sound card would work, or maybe an add-in card that has a game port.
