DB9    DB25
1      8
2      3
3      2
5      7
6      6
7      4
8      5
9      22

If you need to have DTR connect 6,8 and 20 on the db25 side.
BUT...
If you do get data out with the current cable, chances are that the cable is ok.
It could be the baudrate or number of bits or the parity bit.
If the data looks fine in the beginning, but gets garbled after about a half to one and a half page, it is handshaking.
Normaly handshaking is only software, you need to connect only 2,3 and 7 are connected (looked from the db25 connector side)
Hope this helps
