AN URGENT SUGGESTION AND NEED

There can be 2 questions in the PERL area

1) How to print "hello" using PERL ?

2) how to obfuscate perl code (or) How to write a text editor using PERL  ?

Now these 2 questions FALL in different GENRE ..

There are experts among us who have 2000 points and those who have more than

10000 points

Now if an expert who has more than 10000 points tries to answer  questions of genre 1.

What a hopeless situation for experts with 2000 or less.. ?

My suggestion is experts with 10000 POINTS or more should NOT be allowed to answer an question which is marked as "EASY"  WITHIN 3 days from the day of posting..

Let the EXPERTS with lower points try their hand in ANSWERING .. if at all their answers are UNSATISFACTORY then the question will still REMAIN UNANSWERED for 3 days or more and then EXPERTS with 10000 points or more can JUMP IN

Chris,

I don't think your suggestion will be implemented. And here is why.

Any person/organization what is capable to offer some service (answer questions in this case) is worth no more than people who needs these answers are ready to pay them. If there are no askers - it is worth 0 or less.

Now to your suggestion. Will this help to attract new askers? I don't think so. I even think that it may lead to lost ones. And this is why experts-exchange won't do this.

What to do? The only way I see is to advertise this forum and achieve that top experts won't be capable to answer _all_ the questions.

Good look!

P.S. I'm in no way afiliated with experts-exchange other than beeing "an expert".

Then what is the incentive for experts with lower then 2000 points ..

they must seek someother forum is it ?

Only experts with more than 10000 points take more points  now ..

like they say " the rich get richer and the poor get poorer"

hmmm

chris,

Ok, I'm ready to accept that in business you could easier make more money if you already have a lot. But this is not a case in experts-exchange!

What prevents you answer questions soner than top-expert? Lack of points? You must be kidding! I can accept answer "lack of expertize", "lack of experience in answering", "lack of experience in english (for not native english speakers like me)", "lack of..." but not "lack of points".

You [and I] have the right to provide our answers sooner and better. Or write tool what will inform us as soon as question is posted. Or finding the forums where we have more chances to become top-person. But screeming "let's change the rules to better suit my ego"... I can't allow this to myself. YMMV.

That's _FAIR_ competition. And if somebody does things better than me I'm ready to take my hat off.

I agree with Monas. You gain points by providing good answers quickly. And the questioner is encourage to award point to the best answer. We all started with 0 expert points, and it takes a lot of work to gain many points.

Having said that, I will quite often ignore new questions unless it has been unanswered for many hours. Or if I have gained points from one or two questions, I won't answer anymore that day.

Hats off to Teraplane for his great attitude

Not everybody is a gentleman like Teraplane

What I mean is Experts-Exchange Will soon become MONOPOLIZED by experts who have more than 10000 points.

Since experts with lower points will NOT FEEL AMUSED OR ENCOURAGED ..They might even consider quitting and joininh other forums

We ALL must AGREE that a expert with 10000 points or more in a particular field of expertise SURELY knows MORE than an expert with 2000 or less

Perhaps what is needed is an option at the bototm of the top 15 list to see  the other experts, say down to top 50 on a seperate page. This way you can get some recognition, and track your porgress. It would really be an issue for the EE suggeation area though.
chris18,

i think you should also post your Question in the "Community support" forum (https://www.experts-exchange.com/Customer_Service/Experts_Exchange/) since that will bring you issue to the front.
