Thats a bug with Win98 install. Easy fix at MS site.
Dont remember the fix at the moment, but will get back to you.

Here's the fix

Use Registry Editor to delete the NameNumericTail string value in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
Restart your computer.
Run Windows 98 Setup again.

Here's the link
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q179/3/70.ASP?LNG=ENG&SA=ALLKB&FR=0

If you dont know how to edit the registry, ping back for directions or have a friend that does, do it for you.
