I have VB5

I have built a project at the office using the microsoft grid control, the project works fine.

The software loaded at work is the professional edition

at home on my laptop I have the student version of VB5 (professional)

both have had sevice pack 3 installed.

When I load the project at home I get a message that the grid control is not licenced

if both versions of vb are supposedly the same I have no idea how I got the licence at work.

how do I get the licence for dbgrid32.ocx at home?

Sadly, the professional and student versions of VB ARE different.. and precisely in the area you describe.. Controls. The Student edition only provides the most basic of functions, the professional a full set, and the epitomy.. the enterprise edition.. is loaded with project management tools.

To use the vbgrid32.ocx control with VB5 at home.. you are going to have to pickup a "copy" of VB5 professional (now out of MS production, look for it used), and install it at home.. <wink>.
