How to show table border?

I used FrontPage to make a table and insert a few form fields in the table cells. There are some cells not containing the fields. When I preview the table, I found the cells which do not have form fields do not show the borders. I tried to insert a   to the cell, but when I save the page, the border still doesn't show up.

What is the problem? How can I make the border show up?

Hi jzzhang,

I have had this problem before, I don't know if there is a solution in FrontPage itself.  I program in ColdFusion so I solved it by the following:

<cfoutput query="getdata">
<table width="100%" border="3">
<tr>
<td>
<CFIF #phone# is "">
                                &nbsp;
                             <CFELSE>
#phone#
</CFIF>

</td>
</tr>
........
......
.....
</table>
</cfoutput>

Hope this may help,

AL

AL, Thanks for your help. However, I do not have ColdFusion. So I have to look for a solution in FrontPage.

The solution is quite simple if you know how to do it.

Mostly Netscape shows the problem that a table border or background color of an empty cell is not shown.

To avoid this simply press the spacebar two times in all the cells that have no other items in it like form elements or text or a graphic. Just insert two "spaces" (more are possible but you have to insert at least 2!).
