uninstalling software

Good morning.Just a quick question. I had some difficulty installing a program and its patches{easy cd creator + direct cd]. I uninstalled it  and reinstalled a  couple of times and it finally took. The problem was with the "patch". Anyways, my question is when you uninstall a program, I know their are files that do not get uninstalled. When you reinstall, do the files get overwritten? In other words do I have mulitple file I do not need?
Thanks

Billy,
the files will not duplicate.  They will either overwrite them or not install them.  You will not have any "extra" files unless it is installed in a different directory.  From what you say this did not happen.
Hope it helps.

When you do a reinstall files do get overwritten unless you specify a different destination path to install software.  You will not have multiple files on your system if you specify the same destination path.  When you uninstall, it removes the directories and files it created.  There will be some DLL files that are not in these directories that are not removed automatically.  The computer will prompt you saying that these particular files may or maynot be used by other programs on the system and do you wish to delete.  If you do not know whether to delete or not, leave them alone as they do not take up much space at all and will not intefere with other software.
