WinMSD

When calling from command prompt, using the following syntax:

winmsd /categories +IRQ /report test.txt

I recieve an out put file that contains only a header with the date and time that Winmsd was run..

How can I get winmsd to report the category into a file wiht out having to do a full system report?

Merith,

As you may know, you can right click on the IRQs Folder in System Information window to export that to a text file. However, if you have to do this with comand line (scripts), I also had the same problem couple of weeks ago and could not get a clue. Here is what I know:

WINMSD has been replaced by MSINFO32.EXE in Win2k (utility from 98). The following URL stated that /CATEGORY dose not work and it is a bug.
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q246/9/52.ASP
I concluded from there that /CATEGORIES is the same case. However, there is no documentation about this.

Also check the MS TID PSS Q184075, which showed you the 3 categories used by MSINFO32.

Can't u use MSINFO32 /COMPUTER and then manually print it from the GUI. Not if you have several hundreds of win2ks.

hope this help.

I spoke with microsoft.. WINMSD /Categories does work, but the names needed for each specific area are not the same as in the out file. This method takes 20 minutes to retrieve the needed info but I did get it to work.

Any idea of how to get these values directly from the registry?
