CD-ROM Problem

I took a CD-Rom out of a computer.  The CD-Rom was attached to the motherboard.  I am trying to put the CD-Rom into another computer that the cable attaches to the sound card.  I have a new hard drive and I downloaded the CD-Rom driver from the Company that I took the CD-Rom out of.  I only have DOS operating system being that I can not get the CD-Rom to read.  It is a IDE CD-Rom.  The driver loads into the autoexec.bat and config.sys, but it says that it cannot find the device.  I have another sound card, but it does not have a place to attach the cable.

Hi paseo, PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS, BEFORE EXECUTING.
As I understand this you have attatched the ide cable to the sound card.
If thats the case try entering setup and set secondary master ide to none and exit and save. And see if the cdrom is recognised.

If this dosent work and maybe this should be your first attempt, try attatching the ide cable to the other 40-pin ide connection on the mother board,if there is only one ide connection you will have to slave the cdrom to the hard drive and set jumpers on the cdrom to slave and the jumper on the hdd to master.Leave the atapi cable connected to the sound card.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help, firewire.  I attached the cd-rom to the hard drive and it solved my problem.  Thanks again.
