How do you use the tell target on a button in a movie clip that you want to initiate another movie in another clip? In other words, I have a menu that is in a movie clip. it has all my buttons in it.  How do I get those buttons to use the tell target to retrieve other movie clips.  The damn instance name does not show up in the target for tell target.  BUT, if i create a button outside the main menu (which is a movie clip) it works.

Create a movie clip and give it a instance name.

Then create a button inside this movie clip (which are your menu buttons)

Give one of these buttond this action

On (Press)
  Begin Tell Target ("_level0/")
    Go to and Play ("action")
  End Tell Target
End On

Then in the main timeline. Give the frame you want to taget a label called 'action'.

Now when a button in the menu with the above action script is pressed it goes to the label 'action' in the main time line and play's.

If you want to target a movie clip in the main time line then change the button action to

On (Press)
  Begin Tell Target ("_level0/movie")
    End Tell Target
End On

Where movie is the instance name of the movie you want to target.

That's it.

If youface any problem then do let me know.

Ok, I need help in a hurry. I have a main timeline that has two movie clips in the same frame.  One of the movie clips is my menu with button in the clip.  I have assigned a
on (press)
Begin Tell Target ("_level0")
go to and play ("middle movie")

"this is the instance name (middle movie) of the second movie clip that I want to play in the middle of the screen.

End tell target
End on

It will not work - what am I doing wrong???
