I cut and pasted a webring html fragment for my page.  The page and all the links load fine, but I get the little error icon in the lower left side of the IE browser.  The details show 5 errors, all 5 are:

unterminated string constant.

What is it and how do I fix it??

thanx

Some where you might have missed out a " or a '. Or perhaps you have to escape another quote using a \. Not sure unless you show the code...

What browser are you using? IE5?

I am not sure whether this is the problem, but do check this:

This shld be in a single line with no line breaks in between, especially in the onMouseOver="....."

<a href="http://members.tripod.com/~bjcollins/index.html" target=_top onMouseOver="window.status='Pittsburgh Music Ring';  return true">

I don't know if it was the problem with the way u posted it here, but the linebreaks caused a problem for me in the foll places:

onMouseOver="window.status='Visit The Previous Site In The Pittsburgh Music Ring';  return true">

onMouseOver="window.status='Skip A Site In The Pittsburgh Music Ring';  return true">

etc.

Tried it, but it did not work, I still come up with the:

line 137
char 27
error unterminated string constant

line 155
char 35
error unterminated string constant

line 162
char 35
error unterminated string constant

line 169
char 35
error unterminated string constant

line 181
char 39
error unterminated string constant

Any other ideas...??

The errors occur exactly at the lines I mentioned, right? I can't find any  problem other than the <a href ... being placed in multiple lines... Let's see.

YES IT DID!!!!  I HAD TO TAKE THE HTML AND USE A TEXT EDITOR TO RUN IT TOGETHER CORRECTLY AND CLOSE UP THOSE GAPS YOU SPOTTED.  ONCE THAT WAS DONE, I RE-CUT AND RE-PASTED BACK INTO MY WEBSITE, AND VIOLA!!!!

If the comments from lambda helped you solve this then you should accept his comment as the answer, there should be an option to "accept this comment as the answer" in the header for his comment.
Do that and grade it and this question can be closed out.
