So far, the information I have about the virus which is affecting
nearly everyone with a Windows computer (no laughing you linux and mac
users)
is that the virus (if you opened the e-mail), is still on your computers.

This is a preliminary writeup. The information contained within is to
provide as much information as possible at this time.
VBS.LoveLetter.A is an email worm, mIRC worm, and a file infector.
VBS.LoveLetter.A will use Microsoft Outlook
and email itself out as an attachment with the above subject line and
attachment name. The body of the message will be
kindly check the attached LOVELETTER coming from me.
The virus will also infect files with the following extensions: vbs, vbe,
js, jse, css, wsh, sct, hta, jpg, jpeg, mp3, and mp2
The virus will drop the following files:
MSKernel32.vbs in the Windows System directory
Win32DLL.vbs in the Windows directory
LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs in the Windows System directory
WinFAT32.EXE in the Internet download directory
WIN-BUGSFIX.EXE in the Internet download directory
script.ini in the mIRC directory
SARC recommends Administrators filter on the attachment name and Subject
line immediately.
This writeup will be verified and formalized within the hour.
Removal <http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/refa.html>:
Delete found infected files.

The answer explaining what it does is great, BUT I need some sort of medication now. A script that would remove keys from \\\\RUN and RUNSERVICE registry would be nice.

All your vbs, vbe,
js, jse, css, wsh, sct, hta, jpg, jpeg, mp3, and mp2 files are infected with the virus and they should be att the size of 10703b. Delete them.

And I have a script that can help you with the other files.

But I dont know your e-mail. So here are mine: qvenild@hotmail.com

Just wait a while and the anti-virus programmes will be on the internet.

The first advice given was the fromat the harddisk?! You can read from the script that it's updating the registry and infecting a lot of files. So it's a tough one!

Strength !

Hi damjank,

This is where you can get more information on the loveletter virus. & the way to remove it manually.

Rgds
imac

Please go to site for more info.
http://www.europe.f-secure.com/v-descs/love.htm

The manual removing of LoveLetter worm could be done by deleting the following files from
the infected machine:
    -all .VBS files from all the drives and from all sub directories;
-the file LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.HTM from Windows System directory
-WIN-BUGSFIX.EXE and WINFAT32.EXE from Internet explorer
    download directory.

This is the imfamous I Love You virus. I would think that most antivirus companies would be very loudly promoting their solutions. Try McAfee.
