as u are awared that it is an animation program, the trial version will provide a fully fuuction program. If u want to make a web site using it, u can go to http://www.flashkit.com/ to have a look, there are some useful tutorial there. Otherwise u can go to macromedia to download the pdf file to learn more about it. Using this software u don't need to install anything but the shockwave player which will be installed when u installed flash. When u have created an animation, u just need to export it to either a gif(which appears as a pict with animation with no plugins at all) or a shock wave, which is the usual fromat for creating web site in flash. Hope this will start u up.

hello -

while an answer such as "here's how to use flash 4" is out of the scope of this forum, i can tell you this.

-you can make a movie in flash that may be your web page.

-once you are finished, choose file > publish settings, and then hit publish. this will make the HTML and SWF files, which are to go on your server. the HTML file is needed to reference the sWF (your movie).

-no additional software is needed on the server. flash SWF files are served to users just like any other files. the user's browser will need a flash player to view them, however.

so, in short, you have a tool to make graphical layouts, with animation and interactivity. also, you can make the HTML for the movie as well. if you have an FTP program and an ISP/existing site, you can certainly get away with using just flash to make your site.

i hope this answered your question. :>)
