Adding HP Deskjet 600 printer on Windows 95

I have an HP Deskjet 600 printer (which is a colour printer but not 600C) which I want to add to my printer list on my new PC.  I do not have the driver disks or any manual.  I have downloaded printer drivers from Hewlett Packards web site but when I try to add printer through control panel using "have disk" there isn't the choice of HP Deskjet 600 on the list of available printers.  The message says something like "if your printer is not listed, look in the manual for compatible printer" but as I do not have the manual I'm stuck.  I have e-mailed Hewlett Packard with a request but haven't heard anything yet.  Can you tell me how I can over-ride the list in the add printers menu or what is a compatible printer for the HP Deskjet 600?

Thanks in advance.

OK this is what to do

when you click on the download it will ask where you want to save it

at the top drop down list select desktop then click save

it will download to your desktop

double click on the exctuable file on your desktop that you downloaded it will extract the files and create a folder on your desktop

go to start, settings printers double click add printer then the introduction screen will come up hit next (it may or may not ask you if it is local or network select local then next)

click on have disk then click on browse another window will appear at the top where it says look in select desktop then double click on the folder dj600 then click on disk1  then click ok then ok again then it will say HP deskjet 600 click next then it wil say what port select lpt1 then click next then if it asks if you want to use it as default select yes then click finish otherwise just click finish.

halfway through the install it may prompt for disk 2 you will have to click on browse go to the desktop then the dj600 folder then double click on disk 2 this will point it to the rest of the files click ok and then it should finish installing the printer

it will not be on the list because it was not included with the windows cd-rom and the operating system the printer was released after production of the cd-rom that is why there is a have disk option.
