What does it mean to stack switches?  Are they just taling about connecting them via uplink ports a full-duplex?
Is it running multiple switches off one?
I'm a little hazy on this terminology.

Stacking hubs or switches mean
connecting few phisical device by high speed links (usialy with speed much more than fastEthernet)

So, for stacking you need special cables, and sometimes special adapters (depend on vendor an model)

After stacking all device have single IP address
and managed as single divice
