Simply Dialing Up

Well, this is a very basic question (I am new to linux.) Anyway, Corel Linux says my modem is busy, when it is not. I have the modem in the right location, it jsut will not dial-up. It doesn't even say modem ready. I have the number and everything to be dialed up to, I just cannot get it to dial out. Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

Grant.

I did end up having a Winmodem. Thanks!
I'm sorry it turned out to be a winmodem. On a more positive note, I was in a Circuit City last week and noticed that there are some modem vendors that are now stating "Linux compatible" on their product So it's beginning to get a little easier to find usable stuff for Linux & FreeBSD.
